Jambos:
Saturday, July 20: Most of us had our curriculum activity today. Some went climbing and learned a ton of climbing techniques and knots. Bryson had dutch oven food, some went BMX Biking, some went Mountain Biking, and others went shooting. Akir Rowe decided to claim front row seats for our troop at the concert today. At the concert this afternoon, 3 Doors Down, Mike Rowe, and others attracted a crowd of thousands of scouters. It was a pretty great day! Have fun!

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days. This one is for Friday, July 19. We all completed our day of service this morning. We repaired trails in a state park by cutting brush, widening trails, and repairing trails around a small lake. Later on a huge rainstorm shut down all of the activities at The Summit. Overall, it was a pretty good day. Have fun!

Jambos
Oh what an awesome day! Yesterday morning many in our troop went to Technology Quest. It's a huge group of booths sponsored by different companies or organizations such as Lego or NASA. They had 3D printers, liquid nitrogen, solar panels, and much, much more. [DO NOT TRY WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ!] One of the booths filled a 2-liter pop bottle with liquid nitrogen and then submerged it in a trash can filled with water. Then... BOOM! The bottle exploded and shot water everywhere! It was pretty freaking awesome. After visiting Technology Quest, Austin Johnson, Eli Butler, and Turner Koyle got to go on The Big Zip, the largest zipline in North America. Some of us went to The Barrels shooting range and had a great time shooting targets. Patch trading has settled down a little bit, but many are still trading like crazy. We're all doing great! Pip Pip Cheerio!

Jambos
Today the Jamboree officially began. Our day began with an early breakfast and the opening ceremonies. We went to the huge stadium with the other 40,000 scouts and listened to several prominent speakers and singers. Then we hit The Summit hard. Shooting, Rock Climbing, BMX Biking, Mountain Biking, Zip Lining, and a ton of other amazing adventures were just a few of the great activities here at The Summit. Many of the boys completed the Thomas S. Monson award and received their medalion. Many boys also became very engaged with patch trading, and several of them have aquired a few very rare sets. We all had a great time today, and we're all doing well. Have fun!

We went to Arlington National Cemetery today and were
humbled by the sacrifice and spirit of this special place. We saw the Iwo Jima Memorial. Most of the day we spent traveling to West Virginia
to the Jamboree Summit. We have camp all
set up and even got a few patch trades in.
Tomorrow we hit the Summit with full force. Jambo is here.

Jambos
Today we woke up early and went to Sacrament meeting in a little ward in Rockville, Maryland. We packed the entire overflow area! Then we made a quick stop at the Washington DC Temple and headed for the Smithsonian. First, we visited the Museum of Natural History and then the Air and Space Museum. We have been riding the subways around DC. After dinner at Union Station, we headed back to the hotel early so some of us could do laundry or go swimming. We had a great day and tomorrow we head for The Summit! That's it for today, Tally-ho.

Jambos
After a cold breakfast on the bus, we headed for Gettysburg. We saw an amazing circular painting that went around a huge circular room, called a Cyclorama. Then we saw Fort McHenry. We even got to participate in a firing simulation of a replica artillery gun. After that, we headed for Washington DC. We rode the subway to the White House, and saw the Washington Monument that was completely encased in scaffolding. Then we saw the World War II memorial, Lincoln Monument, Vietnam Memorial Wall, and Jefferson Monument. Then we headed for the hotel. We're all safe and well. Have fun!

Jambos
After each of us somehow rolled out of bed this morning, we all got on the bus and went to the Susquahanna River, where the Aaronic Priesthood was restored. Then we headed for Philadelphia. We got delayed in traffic but we still managed to see the Liberty Bell and get a tour at Independence Hall. It was all very interesting and we had a great time until the rain set in. An eastern rainstorm in all its glory pelted us until we were all completely drenched. Currently we're on the bus on our way to Plain and Fancy, a delicious Amish restaurant, just trying to dry off a little bit. Other than getting wet, we're all doing great. See you later!

Jambos
Today we started touring. The boys have handed out 3 Book of Mormons already and have way more to spare! Most of us rolled out of bed on time, and we headed for Niagra Falls. We all went to the Cave of Winds which is a series of walkways and decks that took us right up to the Bridal Veil section of the falls. We all had a great time. After that, we went to the Sacred Grove and received the letters from our parents. It was a very spiritual experience for us boys. Then we went to the E.B. Grandin printing shop. It was very interesting to see how the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon were printed. Then we headed for Hill Cumorah to have dinner and see the Pagent. We all had a great time. After the Pagent we were greeted at the hotel by complimentary cookies and a security guard intent on keeping anyone under 18 out of the fitness and business centers. Lawrence promptly convinced the guard that he was, in fact, over 18. Overall, it was a good day and everyone is safe and sound. My friends, Adieu.

Jambos
Today has been an extremely long day. Everyone was aboard the bus by 5:00 AM, and we headed for Vegas. Most of us got through TSA without issue, except for Reid Olsen (he had a few loose .22 shells in his bag). His new nickname is Reid the Terrorist! We got delayed in Chicago O'Hare for about two hours due to some bad weather in Rochester, but we finally got on our way. Once we arrived in Rochester, we boarded a bus to go to our hotel in Buffalo. We watched the movie Killing Lincoln along the way. Right now, we are all at the hotel safe and sound, but before long, we will be starting our first day of touring. Let the adventure begin!

Oh YEA!
We are hours away from leaving!
This is going to be a great experience and one that will last a lifetime.
Just a few reminders-
We have a few people that we still need copy of insurance card front and back. You should know who you are.
There are about six people that do not have pictures uploaded on their dashboards.
You will need to bring a lunch or money for lunch at the airport.
Letter for the sacred grove. A great opportunity to share your feelings and testimony.
Waiver/Release form if you have not turned it in.
No pocket knives or any dangerous substances. (No liquids over 3.4 oz)
Think about all the DC historical sites and vote for your favorite. We will not be able to see everything.
Scouts on the Sanpete side
We are meeting at Gary's tonight around 9 - 10 pm.
Bring a goody or food to share. We are staying up until we leave around 2 am for Nephi.

Upon further discussion, we will be meeting on Saturday June 29th @ 2 pm.
We need to load our big duffel bags to go to the council office in Orem to get on the truck for transportation.

Some people have asked about what to pack in our big duffel.
On our packing list it tells you but as a general rule any of your big items that you need at the Jamboree site need to be in your big blue duffel. Also any pocket knives.

This year to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, there is a special award that you can earn called the Thomas S. Monson Award. It is a magnificient award.
As Jamboree participants, you will be the first to be able to earn it during the Jamboree. After the Jamboree all scouts can earn it.
You can get a jump start to earn the award. The requirements are on our website.

Great news!
Thanks to our council rep Ron Nyman we have lined up a bus for the trip back from Vegas.

Everyone needs to have their pictures uploaded to the Jamboree Dashboard by the 15th.
This is the picture for your National Jamboree Credentials.
It needs to be a straight on head shot like a drivers license.
(The picture that we took @ Mt. Pleasant is for our Council/Troop Tour Badge.)
I believe everyone except one or two scouts have signed up for their Activity Preferences.
